Initial Backstory

"After years of infertility we pursued IVF as family. We were so grateful to get pregnant with our little miracle boy. At our 20 week scan we learned that little Eddie had CDH. Unfortunately for us our diagnosis experience was devastating and we were recommended a termination and counseled on the significant life long deficits our little guy could have. As awful as it was we were able to pursue our own research and quickly learned that this would not be eddies story. Because of foundations like ECCF we understood quickly that there is so much misinformation and the ability to have access to care at a high volume CDH center would change everything. We ultimately decided to pursue care at Johns Hopkins in FL and just welcomed our little guy into the world and are sitting here watching him do so thrive and take on the world. As I’m sure anyone can imagine this story— from even the beginning it has been financially overwhelming but we are so grateful for the support and love from so many including ECCF to get our son here to save not just his life, but his future as well. We are so grateful to know and believe he will live a full, normal, healthy life!"

Update 5/1/2026

"Things are going well!! Eddie had a larger defect than expected but it hasn’t stopped him from trying to convince us that he isn’t actually sick! He had surgery 13 days ago and is doing really well. He is no longer on ventilation support and we have started doing the smallest feeds! This journey has been so hard and so scared but we are so grateful to watch his thrive. He is a miracle."
