Initial Backstory

"I was always under then impression that I would never conceive due to fertility issues. As hard as that had been to live with I had officially come to peace with that reality. My husband and I got married in 2025 and along with him came my amazing bonus daughters Harley and Rose. I had peace knowing that I get to be a bonus mom for the rest of my life and that I would promise to always love them and treat them as my own. But God decided to bless my husband and I with another daughter. When I found out I was pregnant I was so happy it was a feeling i never thought I would feel. My OBGYN was 7 minutes away from our house as well as the hospital I was going to give birth at. I still remember hearing words like “perfect pregnancy” and “healthy happy baby” at every appointment. I had no complications at all except being extremely exhausted everything was going great. Until I got a call at 26 weeks pregnant that I was being referred. To make this story a little shorter … within 3 weeks our whole world turned upside down. We received Lydia’s diagnosis and were told numbers like 10% chance of survival. My doctor had never seen a right sided CDH diagnosis before. He tried so hard to keep his composure as he told us her diagnosis. He encouraged us to reach out to the fetal center in Houston Texas. Fast forward we decided to transfer our care to Houston where they gave us numbers like 85% chance of survival. We had no clue AT ALL how we would pay for this to happen but we knew we were going to do it no matter what. Thankfully we were provided with resources like the Eden Calhoun foundation. These foundations have made it possible to save Lydia’s life. I will forever be grateful for people that donate and make these things possible and for the people that started these foundations. Lydia is currently one day old as I am writing this. She is overall doing good. Thank you to everyone who has helped save my miracle baby."

Update 8/2/2026

"Lydia had her surgery on 7/23/26 the doctor said the surgery went as good as possible. She is currently still under some sedation but is doing really well. They are slowly backing off on the machine support. I’m currently navigating the NICU life trying to find how I can be with her as much as possible. It’s so hard to leave so I’m trying to learn how to be comfortable in the hospital luckily they have a NICU lounge and the NICU is open 24/7 and sometimes they have rooms to stay in. So she gets to hear her mommas voice as much as possible!"
