Initial Backstory

"We had an ultrasound at 30 weeks, which also was my birthday and we were very excited to check in on our little girl to later find out they seen a mass in her right chest cavity and her heart is being pushed over. We of course were horrified to hear this. We had to travel 3 hours away a week later and got the confirmed diagnosis. She has a left sided CDH where her lungs are 70% and she has her bowel moving into her chest. We relocate no later than the 10th of November and will be induced on the 18th. This grant will help us as even with hardships bills do not stop coming and we have an expensive mortgage and car payment and will not be able to work during this time. Also to have assistance to take care of ourselves while we are in Kansas City. I am happy to send updates as my daughter goes through this process."

Update 11/30/2025

"Emma Sue was born on the 18th of November and shares a birthday with her daddy. We are very excited about. So far the last two days she has been mostly stable. She had an incident where her oxygen tube went to far in and cause her oxygen and pulse to drop dramatically. That was very scary for all of us. However other than that and needing some blood pressure meds to raise her blood pressure she’s doing well. She will be having her CDH repair surgery Friday the 21st."

Update 1/4/2026

"Emma is making big strides this month! She was taken off oxygen and just breathing room air. She will be attempting bottle feeding soon. They say once she gets the hang of that and puts on weight they will take the feeding tube out which she hates so we look forward to that and then hopefully we will get to go home. They say the feeding process can take a while and can be the most frustrating stage but we have high hopes our girl will do well. The grant will indeed help us as me and her father have not been able to work and need to come up with bill money for the month of January. Thank you and god bless."
