Initial Backstory
My name is Tiffany Melendrez, and this is the story of our daughter, Emberly. When we received Emberly's diagnosis; Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome alongside Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia; our world stopped. No parent is ever prepared to hear that their unborn child faces not one, but two serious heart and structural conditions. But from the very beginning, we made a decision: we would do whatever it takes to give Emberly the best possible chance at life. That decision led us to pack up our lives in Dyer, Nevada and relocate over 1,500 miles to Texas, where we could be close to the specialized medical teams in Houston and Tyler who are preparing to care for Emberly at birth. We are currently staying with my sister and her family in Lindale, Texas as we await Emberly's due date of May 13th. A date we are holding onto with so much hope, prayer, and anticipation. We are a family of five, and keeping our three other children grounded and cared for while navigating this journey has required everything we have. There have been hard days; days that have stretched us in ways we never anticipated. But through it all, we are leaning on our faith and trusting that God is holding Emberly and holding us, through every step of this. We are so grateful for the Eden Calhoun Charitable Fund and for being seen and supported during one of the hardest seasons of our lives.
