Initial Backstory

I’m currently 28wks pregnant and my son Lawsyn was diagnosed with a severe LSCDH with echmo needed. we will be relocating from our home in okeechobee around 37wks for his delivery at All Children’s hospital with Dr.Kays who will be preforming his surgery. This is my first baby and the unknown of not knowing how long the nicu stay after will be is very overwhelming, Anything or any support would greatly impact us when the time comes!

Update 5/27/25

Hi! It’s been two weeks of ecmo so far. A little rocky, small ecmo hiccups,  lots of mixed emotions, and lots of questions. We are staying strong for our warrior boy! They estimated 3 weeks of ecmo but with the hiccups we’ve had we are anticipating a little longer, but he is a fighter and healing everyday. The nurses and ecmo specialists do an amazing job at answering all of our questions and explaining every step.

Update 6/29/25

Lawsyn is finally off ecmo! 41 days on ecmo 2 ecmo circuits later and we are off ecmo, he is working so hard and is the strongest boy ever. Now we are working on coming off the vent then I get to hold my sweet boy. 

Update 8/1/25

Just sharing a little update we are officially 41 days off Ecmo, we are off the vent and have begun feedings, which is a huge step forward. We’re soaking up every bit of these sweet snuggles and ready to see where this feeding journey takes us! Thank you all for your continued love and support. It means the world to us.

Update 8/27/2025

We are home!!! We had our final discharge on August 13th and we are getting settled in hopefully we are so excited to finally be home after over 3 months. soon we won’t need our at home oxygen anymore!
