Initial Backstory
"After experiencing a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks in July 2025, we were overjoyed to learn that we were pregnant again in October 2025. We are already blessed with two wonderful daughters, ages 2 and 4, and were thrilled to discover through blood testing that we were expecting a little boy. Having had two healthy pregnancies, we anticipated that this pregnancy would follow a similar path. However, at our 20-week ultrasound in January, we learned that our rainbow baby boy had been diagnosed with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). Our local maternal-fetal medicine specialist had only encountered three other CDH cases in her career, and we were devastated by the news. Fortunately, my husband knew two families whose children were born with CDH, and they were able to share their experiences and guide us toward specialized care. We made the decision to relocate to St. Petersburg, Florida, so that our son could be treated at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. After meeting with the team and developing a treatment plan, we are filled with hope that our baby boy will go on to live a healthy and fulfilling life following treatment. We would not have been able to make this relocation without the generous support of the Eden Calhoun Foundation, and we are deeply grateful for their assistance in helping us access the specialized care our son needs. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our baby boy and are expecting to welcome him on June 1st."
Update 7/1/2026
"Henry was born on the first and had his surgery on the 5th! It was successful and we have had a few bumps in the road but are hoping to be on the road to recovery"
