Initial Backstory:
When Chris and I found out we were pregnant of course we went through all the normal emotions. But all in all we were excited to become parents! We were so happy to also find out that we were having a baby boy. But things changed as soon as we were given the diagnosis of CDH. Luckily we were put into great hands with the Fetal center at memorial Hermann in Houston. They are an amazing group that we have been blessed with. But with the care we need we are having to relocate down to Houston from Dallas sooner than later to start medical intervention. We will officially be down there starting March 16th, FETO is to be performed on March 18th or 19th and we will be there until we are given the okay from medical professionals to bring baby boy home. We are currently still waiting for a room to open up at the Ronald McDonald House, but know it will work out as planned! With this being said I will be without work, which means more than half of our income will disappear. We do hope Chris can continue to work but we aren’t sure of that at this time. We don’t ask for much, but mainly your prayers. We have full faith in the power of our God. We trust that he has our little family in His hands and will continue to provide for us. We plan on using (the grants) for any necessities such as groceries, gas, medical bills etc.
Update 6/1/25
Cash Wilcox was born on May 27th, 2025
Weighed: 6lb 13oz
Length: 19.8
Mom is healing, and we're all grateful we haven't had any further complications.
To put it simply, during labor Madison hemorrhaged resulting in extra care + an extra surgery the next morning to control the bleeding. We are soaking up his beautiful face (looks like Mom).
Our son will be going into surgery around 10am tomorrow morning. ECMO is still possible after surgery, but him not being on ECMO now is a great thing. The doctor even told us that him not being on ECMO- they weren't prepared for, because most CDH babies are usually on ECMO this early. The best explanation for this is the good Lord himself!
The most important thing for our family is continued prayers for healing, blessing, and favor on our son, his doctors, and staff as they proceed with his repair surgery tomorrow. Prayers that i can heal swiftly as the complications set me back some. Mom and Dad would love prayers for a sound heart and mind for tomorrow and the following days to come.
Update 6/28/25
Cash has officially made it to a month! We are currently still in the NICU, But we are doing well! Recovery from repair surgery is going good! Currently, we are working on feeds and still has his Ng Tube. We are looking forward to getting discharged (when they feel confident that is) and getting our family back home to Dallas!
